To begin your child’s appointment, our team will take a full set of oral x-rays. These digital x-rays give our team insights into your child’s oral health and development, and look for hidden signs of decay and gum disease.
After your child’s x-rays are taken, one of our dental hygienists will clean plaque and tartar away from their teeth, then polish and floss their teeth. This keeps your child’s teeth bright, and teeth cleanings also help prevent tooth decay and other oral health issues.
Once your child’s teeth are clean, Dr. Engineer or Dr. Raj will examine their mouth. They will check for common oral health problems and assess their oral development to make sure their mouth is healthy. Once your child’s exam is over, they will discuss the results with you, and any follow-ups or additional treatments your little one may need to keep their mouth healthy.

No. There will never be any surprise costs or hidden fees at our family dental office in Bakersfield. Any recommended treatments outside of the preventive care included in the new patient special will be discussed with you in a clear, concise manner. If your child’s mouth is healthy, you’ll be asked if you’d like to schedule their next six-month appointment at My Kids Happy Teeth. You can book their next appointment right away.
However, if Dr. Raj or Dr. Engineer notices an oral health issue like a cavity, they’ll first discuss the issue with you, and provide a treatment recommendation to restore your child’s oral health. If you decide to get treatment at our office, you can schedule their treatment right away.
Not with the $99 New Patient Special. But if we accept your insurance policy, you can likely get preventive care for your child at no out-of-pocket costs. Most policies cover 100% of the cost of preventive care like cleanings, oral exams, and yearly x-rays. Contact our front office team to learn more and see if we work with your insurer.
